Any body ever play one of these? I played a natural colored maple block neck (painted, I think) one of these that was really good. It was really live, and vibrant, and everything a good fender should be. Priced at $330. Boy am I tempted...only thing that felt "cheap" was the finish on the neck felt sort of like a "Goodtime" banjo...like there was no finish on the neck, almost. It felt comfortable, though...Pickups sounded scary-good...
Talk me out of it.

Can't help. Most of the things I've heard about the Squier 5-strings have been good.
And you have a head start...you even know how to spell Squier!!

There's a black one in my local shop for ages. I don't play fivers, but sometimes I grab that one just to remind myself why I don't like to play them;) But this black one's also a very good built and sounding bass.

The string spacing was wide...so that I could slap fluently and do everything that I like to do on a bass.

everything i have read about these basses had nothing but praise. and at that price a no brainer.
