Kanye West and the VMA
« on: September 14, 2009, 10:34:15 AM »
Anyone catch Kaye West and Taylor Swift on the Video Music Awards? Is this guy the mayor of Loserville or what ???
This guy needs to learn how to act like an adult >:(
I'm not a big Taylor Swift fan , nor am I a fan of music video, and I can be a pretty disrespectful SOB myself, but what a low class way to handle a situation. If I've ever seen a guy in need of a serious butt kickin'....it's Kanye West >:(

Could this be a publicity stunt?

Since he's on the premier of Jay Leno's new show tonight, it could be a publicity stunt. But I don't think he's smart enough to pull something like that off. More likely he's just the stupid, talentless thug he appears to be.

I'm going with the"stupid talentless thug"  bit myself. His past public comment about George Bush not liking black people leads me back down the "stupid" trail and the rest, well , that's pretty self explanitory.

From pictures I saw, it looked like he had a bit of liquid encouragement before hand.

Still has no excuse for what he did.

My wife listens to a lot of today's fine popular music and watches these fine awards-show/marketing-extravaganzas occasionally ;D   (was that a nice enough way to state my feelings?  She's subjected to listening to my crap too, afterall... ;D).  She told me about his little outburst, and I got to see it afterward on the "post awards show recap"  .  What a jerk.  There's no doubt that he has talent as a producer (first and foremost) and rapper.  I respect that, even though I don't get into his stuff.  Seem like it all went to his head, and now he's got the Axl Rose syndrome.  Public memories are short, so I hope for his sake he has enough staying power to back up the 'tude.  Not betting on it.

According to someone who is in a position to know: "this was not pre-arranged. IF IT WAS - everyone neglected to mention this plan to Taylor Swift, her mother and father, or her producer."

I don't really know who Taylor Swift is, but I feel bad for her having to deal with something like this. It was her special moment that she will probably never have again because lets face it, most of these "artists" are not around for long. Kanye is an egotistical douchenozzle of the highest order.  This isn't his first or last example of what an ass he is.

Taylor Swift is a 19 year old country/pop singer. She also plays guitar and writes her own stuff. She's been a huge success, I read somewhere that she was the biggest selling artist overall in the US last year, don't know if that's accurate. Her music is way too mainstream for my tastes.

Like her or not, she deserves to be able to give an acceptance speech without being interrupted by a two bit jackass like Kanye West. You can take the thug out of the ghetto....

In Conan's monologue tonight, he said Kanye West will be joining Serena Williams and Congressman Joe Wilson for a new NBC show, America's Got A-Holes.  ;)

So that is the vid that won?  ???

Nothing wrong with that type of "Avril Lavigne light" music and nothing wrong with a good Cinderella story (right down to the clichée that the dark-haired one always has to be the evil one), but is this an award-winning vid?

Not that Beyoncé's is any better, seemingly citing every R'n'B/Dance Act vid of the last two decades (including, admittedly, a lot of her own). Those visuals are so overdone. It probably cost 10 times as mucha s Taylor Swift's though.

And Lady Gaga's entry is pretty much in the same vein:

I have to surmise: The state of popular  music video art is a sorry one. Twasn't always this way:

A statement of a true diplomat!  I can see a great future for you conducting negotiations with North Korea and Iran.

I caught Kanye on the Jay Leno show last night. He made a public apology for his actions at the VMA. I think I get it now. He has the mind of a child and that's why he acts like a child. I still think he deserves a butt kickin' or maybe a spanking , given his mental state. His management should employ some specialists to keep him on a leash when out in public.
