Congrats. I hope it plays as good as it looks.

Good for you!  That is a nice looking bass.

Now, I hope the switch tip is an original.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Should see it later this week On Friday!Cant wait to get my sweaty hands on it  It should be a killer bass! I know that it has no issues what so ever so its really just a matter of setting up to my taste.I got the bass for 3K even wich is way to much to pay for a 4001 but considering its the rarer (for pre 73) jetglo and in really nice shape!i couldnt resist.even my wife was cool with it!She's a major jetglo fan. She's loves my black 66 jazz bass as well. Now ya gotta love a woman that would let her man deal out 3K for a bass on a wim like that.as for the switch tip,It is original to the bass. Why it was off and in the case i will never know.
Life is like a big fan.And sometimes the CACA hits it!

Maybe the previous owner took the tip off to avoid flipping the switch unintentionally when playing with a pick.

A '67 pickup will not work with a chrome-plated plastic cover. It needs the horseshoe magnets. It's not like the reissue pickups where the shoes are just cosmetic, aren't magnetized and can be removed). The pickup must be a newer hi-gain.

'71 Glueburst with wide pickguard.

No shedua strip.

The '72 MG in the previous post also had some discoloration along the edges, possibly a reaction of the binding glue?

Anyway this one is a more serious case of glueburst. Otherwise nice and not yellowed, maybe (according to the seller) from spending most of its life in the case.

I have seen a lot of Glueburst japanese copies before, first time I am seeing a real Ric like that.

I've seen Rics with varying degrees of glueburst. There is no definite answer to what causes it - here's the latest controversy between Paul Wilczynski and Dale Fortune:

Another '71 glueburst - this one has the shedua center strip and narrower pickguard. The horseshoe pickup is a reissue.

I'll have to go with Dale on this one.
