Somebody, please take this one up, remove the Alembic stratoblaster and then give that poor guitar a funeral pyre.

A moment of silence please, while we bow our heads in a prayer for the soul of this recently departed instrument.

That DiMarzio jack is worth a buck.

After seeing that I don't feel so bad about shooting my friend's 70s Strat with a .22.

ha, guns and guitars. i can relate to that. i once made a piece of 'art' for a friend's record store. it was a hy flyer guitar sans any useful parts. i painted it white then shot it with everything i had.

12 gauge birdshot, .44 magnum, 357 magnum, .38 special +p, .40 S&W. a .22 and just for good measure a 12 ga. deer slug that nearly blew it in half.

it hung in the store for many years with many muscian signatures on it. cop customers would often enquire about the 'artist'.  :o

btw i made this thing in my basement when my wife was out of the country.

disclaimer. i am not now and have never been a hunter. i just like to shoot. :D

senor r&b what makes you think i don't have a decent bass. ???

i have 2 bass guitars, 1 electric and 1 acoustic. the electric is a p bass ho' with a kramer body and fender neck. it looks, plays and sounds fine. my acoustic is a tacoma olympia. no complaints there, either.

back in the days when i was gigging i went through about 23 or 24 fenders, all models and colors and all pre 1975. throw in a few rics, kramer aluminum neck and 5 or 6 gibsons and i think i have owned my share of 'decent' basses.

now that i devolved into a casual hobbyist i see no need to spend alot of money on a bass anymore. ;)

nofi,
Tell me a story about your Kramer aluminum neck ;)
I used to have a Kramer Duke (the Steinberger copy). I almost loved that thing. It was great for a while but temperature/humidity changes had a very negative effect on its ability to stay in tune. Wood and aluminum expand and contract at different rates and it drove me crazy some nights. As it would warm up , it would tune itself higher.
Did you ever have any issues like this?

Rick

i had the 450b model. came out in 1976  i think and had a medium scale neck. i don't recall having any problems with the neck or any other part of the bass. it was built like a tank. living in atlanta where it can be hot and humid one day then cold and dry the next should have caused problems but never did. ???

i'm not one to whine about neck dive and heavy guitars but this thing was really heavy. i never gigged this bass but did some recording with it and the tone was always great imo.

It's not a Dimarzio Jack, it's an Alembic "Stratoblaster" pre-amp.

Nofi,
My kramer sounded great , played great and being a Stienberger style, it was light as a feather. The temperature  change thing just did me in. Michigan weather >:(
The case I had , looked like a gun case and I carried mic and cords in a 50 caliber amo case. When I'd walk into a gig people would open doors for me, call me sir, ask me if everything was alright etc.. Yeah I kinda miss that old Kramer ;)

Thanks....... and my apologies to everyone for highjacking the thread :o
