The Outpost Cafe / Adrian VandenBerg gets ready for a comeback
« on: May 19, 2011, 05:21:27 AM »
Adrian Vandenberg is working on a comeback album. He's been more active as a painting artist ever since he quit Whitesnake.
Partly due to an injury he stopped playing guitar for a while.
But now he's preparing to return into the music scene.

This week a first song was released for a Dutch soccer team called FC Twente from his hometown Enschede.
It's a real football /soccer song with some obvious nods to another (adopted) soccer song Queen's We are The Champions.
The title A Number One is a reference to the A1 highway that leads into Enschede from the west. (Enschede is in the east of Holland near the German border)

The song is sung by Jan Hoving who was lead singer in the band Stonefly (I played bass in that band).
Jan and Adrian are working on an entire album. I spoke to Jan a while back and he's pretty excited about the new material.

Those Chinese fakers have the O in the Gibson logo a bit too wide open. That's why some people call 'm Gibsun

No I don't think it's a Greco

The logo does not have an O as the last character. It's a character with a "tail".  Maybe the N of the Gibson logo or the Y from Burny?

Plus the tuners have large clover clefs. Not the typical Japanese ones which are more rectangular like the one Aussie Mark posted.

Has Rob been loaning out his Bach... ;)

It's close. But the BaCH has the bridge pickup closer to the (two point) bridge.
And the headstock inlay looks like the Washburn W...

The Bass Zone / Re: Robert Palmer with Andy Fraser?

Robert Palmer was an amazing artist who managed to put out very convincing records in a wide range of musical styles. From the funky Meters/Little Feat style from Sneaking Sally Through The Alley , to the Hardrock of the Powerstation up till the very last album Drive with the Blues.
And I like all of them! What a loss. RIP.

That's the first bass I've seen that actually looks good with the Supertone.
And it took some felt spacers to get it right.

But sustain improved greatly? I seriously doubt that.

(who needs sustain anyway?)  ;D

The worn faded ones are Gibson's entry level.

Most versions had the nylon saddles pictured here, though around late 71, early 72 some of these bridges were equipped with chrome plated metal saddles.
