i got these speakers for free. one says eden 8 Ohms and its dated 1999. the othet has no markings at all. i want to knw the ohms, and can i use them if they're not both 8? it is quite a bit lighter than the eden? and are Eden speakers any good?

If you can find the EIA codes on the speaker they will tell you the manufacturer, model, and possibly the impedance rating. They may be hidden on the side or back of the magnet or frame.

FWIW, the top speaker looks like an old cast-frame Altec or EV.

The other one looks like an OEM Eminence and has a stamped frame. Sorry for the choppy posts: smartphone interent browsing.

I also think the 2nd one looks like an Eminence.
As for the ohms, just check across the tabs with a meter. An 8-Ohm speaker will typically read about 6 Ohms on the meter. If it's closer to 15, or less than 4, it wouldn't be an 8-Ohm unit.
