Title: NCD - Ampeg B15E reproduction cab made by fliptops.net
Post by: Aussie Mark on September 06, 2012, 04:19:25 PM
A local tech is building me a 100 watt all tube head based on the B-15N circuit - basically an Ampeg Heritage B-15 on steroids, so while he's building that for me (in blue diamond Ampeg tolex with chrome corners) I bought a nice cab to go with it for small gigs - a fliptops.net B-15E repro cab. It's super nicely made, and with an Eminence Legend inside it sounds great too - sealed cab, no tweeter - me likey!

Patiently waiting for the head to be finished now - still 4 weeks away he says

been eyeballing those at Amazon. i'm thinking that looks sharp. actually thinking about selling my 7ender 212 blonde Bassman cab to buy one. took it apart to see what it actually is and between Randy at RAWOODS and myself we decided it is a mid 60's bassman cab that had its tie downs moved to accommodate another size head as it has plugs where the Bassman head tied down and was originally black instead of blonde. i took the Celestion G12T-75's out.

i'm loving that new Ampeg cab and i think it would look sharp with my new 15" tone ring cab if i needed a "Scott" rig. just have to get more muscle than i have now.

That cab sure looks nice. The Eminence Legend ought to be able to handle the tube head.

The Fliptops cab isn't much more expensive than the PF115HE, which has had mixed reviews in relation to it's ability to handle low end.

I have a fliptops b-15N cab of the early 70's era with the small ports that ampeg used in the 70's.  sounds very nice and looks authentic.  Have a reconed CTs in mine and use it as a second cab.  handles lows well.  I am sure would be great with a better speaker.  there is  slight cab rattle at very high volume which all portaflex cabs tend to have because of the removable top.  its the one in the middle flanked by   B15S's
