show your short-scales!
« on: July 26, 2008, 04:49:32 PM »
I don't think this has been done here, and with all the Gibsonites here it shouldn't be too hard - so let's see your short-scale basses! I'm thinking around 30" scale length. Less is fine of course, and let's consider 32" medium scale.

I'll get it started with my most recent bass - an Alembic Signature Standard Stanley Clarke 5-string:

It was originally made BEADG but I put EADGC strings on it and love it! It's definitely heavy, but I expect that from an Alembic.

OK, so what'cha got!

Incoming Aria Diamond project bass - not here yet, but 30" scale:

Rogue VB-100, which is a great bass with Labella Hofner flats:

1970's Univox 335-copy:

My Epi EB-0 hanging next to my Kay KB-2, both 30" scale:

Dang, I have a lot of short scale basses.  But then, I have a few 34" scale too...

Very nice people - keep 'em coming!

Here's a few more of mine:

My Bass VI reissue:

Me playing my Triumph:

The upper neck is a 30" scale baritone (tuned A-A), so maybe it doesn't count but I'm posting it anyway!

NICE Alembic 5er, Harry!  That is gorgeous!!

I started playing short scale after my ten year hiatus from music.  I had always wanted an EB, so my EB-2D got me started down that path once I got back in the saddle.  Now it seems the short brown (and red) basses are starting to multiply...

Wow, great collections of shorties guys!  Here are a few of mine:

The Thunder Jet on the right is short scale.........

I can't seem to find the pics of my Triumph, so I'll post that later.  Also, several of my current projects are shorties:  Vox HB, Epi Sheraton, Guild M-85 and Guild Starfire III.  Three of these are guitar body conversions to short scale bass.  Opps, I forgot my 66 EB-2 restoration as well.  Damn, I gotta get busy!

If I could find a Rick 3000 at a price I could afford, I'd jump on it.

I used to have another 3000 (and a 3001) which i bought for 450 dollars. The dollar was a lot more expensive then. Now that would be 300 euros but that time it was 600. i sold it for that amount too.

I have two shorties at the moment:

1967 Rivoli (which is disassembled for the triple bypass right now)

1969 EB-O (for sale if anyone's interested...if it's not okay to mention this here I'll remove this statement)

I really dig this forum!  I've learned a lot by reading here!

@ Hollowbody: Nice basses. Nice sunburst on the Epi. Is that original?

Like yer EB0, but I'm satisfied with my horned Gibsons.

@ Dr. Bassman: If you wanna sell your Harmony though....;)
