Custom Shop LP
« on: January 17, 2014, 09:31:41 AM »
For sale on the 'bay. Kinda hmm.... The cream pickup and toggle switch rings don't look right, and I would have had two pinstripes flanking the wide center stripe. Actually, I'd have NO stripe.

Did you see the two CS guitars he has for sale? I had to look it up, these were from a venture between Gibson and Donzi Marine, which I had never heard of. They were pretty expensive when new, but it doesn't look like there's anything custom except the finish (and inlay on the guitars), so I doubt he'll get his BIN unless some Donzi collector just has to have it.

Not collecting for fins I can safely agree with Ilan!

To help you along in your conflict, Ilan, those LP Standards are among the best and most assertive basses Gibson ever built and wouldn't it look good on you too!!!

Great basses but that is way overpriced, in my opinion.

Has anyone else besides me noticed how dirty those strings are? If you're going to make a "player" out of a bass like that, you ought to maintain it.

Perhaps they're old strings and have some oxidation?

They have what looks to me like a pretty gross layer of funk on them, not just age. I have strings on some of my basses that are ten years old, have NEVER been wiped down and still look practically new. They took the time to polish the bass for the camera, wiping down the strings would at least get most of that dead skin and rust off of them.
