Rickenbacker Basses / Re: Cool Rics on eBay

An unusual RED '96 4003 in "reverse trim" (chrome/white instead of the standard RED/BT). I love it.

There was another one that sold from Japan in May, it was a '98 and had a similar color bleed into the binding.

At least for some, I guess... Personally I can't refer to anything after 1980 as "vintage". Before 1940 it's "antique", after 1980 it's "used".

I know that in the 80's, a 20 year old guitar was "vintage". Now it just isn't. In 1982 Fender started producing a "1962 Vintage Reissue". They should have called them "Classic". I don't think now in 2013 they will make a "1993 Vintage Reissue".

1991 4003S WHT/BT... a fretboard enamel (and COA) away from becoming a Tuxedo.

The extra mass (center block, I'm guessing?) will prevent neck-dive and feedback, two of the most prominent features of the old Coro's.

Besides, 9 lbs. is ideal for me. That's what my Fenders and Rics weigh. My 1964 Gretsch 6070, a full hollowbody (no sustain block), also weighs 9 lbs.

Fender Basses / Custom Shop Geddy Lee J... 35" scale EDIT: 34"
« on: November 18, 2013, 12:34:03 PM »
Not a typo, apparently (the 889 mm measure also equals 35").

That's an interesting mod. EDIT: Fender's website says 34". So 35" was a typo. Maybe the "35 years of touring" part threw them off

I'm sure you can get the same feel with two fingers.

Jamerson's RH technique was an upright "hook" adapted for bass guitar. In addition he thought that using two fingers was "sissy" and that "real men" should use just the index finger. He was - with all due respect - wrong.

Jamerson was God but I really don't see why anyone else should restrict themselves to using only the index finger. Even upright players use two fingers for fast riffs. I think NHOP used three for crazy speed.

Never owned one but I have played many, and whenever I get the chance to play a BB1100S I always think, this must be the best sounding bass Yamaha ever built.

Beauty! Crazy money, though.

This bass (ZK3210) was sold on eBay for $5,000 on March 12, 2007. The seller was godzillagonzalez4u and the buyer was lmw55if.
