Bargain Precision on Ebay
« on: June 22, 2013, 12:39:31 AM »
Cheap Precision here in Italy.... I wonder how from the picture one can guess that the bass is the one of Kyuss.

It's a genuine bargain, but I find myself financial embarrassed at present, by a few tens of thousand Euros... ;D

The sellers's handle, "prato fiorito con margherite", is Italian for "Sniffing glue in a flowery meadow with the seller of the sturgeon bass signed by Les Claypool".

No doubt.  A bass rumored to be played by a not so famous bass player, and a "bargain" price with no proof.

Unless the player is a Entwistle /Sir Paul level player I don't think celebrity adds much value. I doubt that Dave Hill owned my amp adds any value, might even have the opposite effect.

LOL!  Agreed.  My Embassy is the bass it is because of the sound and how it plays.  Neither of the previous owners add to the value, although I have always suspected that Petersson had the pickups rewound, but even that points to the bass and not the "magic" of the owner.

My favorite movie scene that comments on this topic.  Also, Page looking more like Rory Gallagher here.

Just because JAE may have owned some of the components on my PC will not raise the value higher than a regular 'Bird, let alone this level of nonsense... ;D

Entwistle would agree with you. In his May '82 Guitar Player interview (famous Gretsch 6120 cover issue) he said: "I wouldn't expect people to pay me more money for my instruments just because I played them."

As for McCartney, he owns Bill Black's upright that he played with Elvis. So even Sir Paul wants to own his idol's bass, and I bet Linda (who bought him that bass) paid more than the going price for a modded Kay M1.

Poor guy isn't making enough money to buy a shirt.  Pity.
