Just sold my '64 Gretsch
« on: July 23, 2018, 12:07:17 PM »
Sad to see her go, but for the last 4-5 years she had seen maybe 2-3 hours of play. A guy came that knew all about this model and was really enthusiastic about finding one. So I sold it to him for $2,600.

Money I get from selling a bass has always gone to buying another one, but funny thing, I can't think of a bass I particularly want now that I don't already have. No GAS is new to me. Well, tomorrow is another day.

Had to be like parting with an old friend, even if it's one you don't "see" that often.

I would be happy selling to a guy like that. Bittersweet, but you know your bass will be loved.

Was this the 6070 with the huge neck?

Just wait for the next checkerboard 4003. You'll have GAS.

I'm playing my Shadow a lot now, in a band where it really shines. So all my checkerboard needs are met. But yes, probably just a phase.

Already got too many Höfners for someone who's not Greg Feo. I'm thinking Tele bass MkII with the Seth Lover Wide-Range humbucking pickup, bass version. But it has to be black. They only look good in black.

I had one, a '77, in black. Looked great, felt great, but the angry midrange of that pickup overpowered the highs and lows too much for my taste. YMMV.
