Mötley seem to go back to their Corabi daze which were musically viable if commercially a failure:

That pterodactyl in the vid reminds me of a very poor joke ...

That was dreadful.

And creepy. There is nothing more unsettling than ordained joy and happiness. It reminded me of The Book of Mormon musical somehow ... and lool & behold:

The creators of The Book of Mormon, a musical that satirizes the latter-day saint movement, cited Up with People as an inspiration for the cartoonishly joyous style of several of the songs in their musical performance, which sends up the clean-cut image of Mormon culture.

Sure it's corny but that guy got a pretty good tone from his EB-0. It stood right out in that big mix of singers and instruments.

I find they look similar to an upside down Rickenbacker.

Not such a bad thing in my opinion. I tend to prefer short scale basses these days , but I do play these Samurai. And the Rics.

Mine are 34 in scale [...] it’s perfectly balanced.

I think I figured out how this is possible. The vintage SB-5A (medium scale) has a total length of 115.5 cm, that's 1 cm LONGER than the 114.5 cm SBV500 with its long scale neck. For the new models the moved the bridge back, and the result is a better balanced bass with a 34" scale length. Win-win. That's good design.

All that lead in the fuel, paint and water pipes had a profound impact on people back then.

Nice too. Though I hate to say or write it, he really did play best on that Warwick Thumb in his later days, he was at his most expressive then. No wonder it was his go-to-instrument.

It still is one butt-ugly abomination of a bass.

I don't think it's ugly, it's one of the better looking Warwicks. He did play great on it.

"Lay your coconut on my tiki"?  Dave!!!

You never heard that one before? It's from German Afternoons (1986), one of his best later albums
