Well...I wound up buying the bass. Let's see...hopefully it won't be opening a can or worms or Pandora's Box.

Ha! I wondered if this was the bass you meant on your Facebook post... Good luck with it, my friend!

Cool. Did you end up paying $1250 for it? Did you buy it through Ebay? What are your plans for it, I mean finish wise?

Thanks George. JohnBob...I really won't know until I receive it. Kerry Green is always been my favorite colour. Or maybe Tahiti Coral, like the Non-Rev 8 string I built and sold to Fraulein Rommel. I still have some of the paint left!!!

Okay, I received the bass today. Strung it up, played nice, sounds nice, Just needs a little bit of restoration...ok a LOT. The headstock repair reminds me of Jaco's bass. It's definitely secure. However, i need some parts-saddles were slightly machined-need 4 saddles if any one has one or two that is fine I'll take it. Acorn nuts (I know Hard to find) 2 5/16-24 thread nickel post for the bridge. brass shield, thumb rest, 1 strap peg..and lots of screws. it's definitely and early '65, most of the parts are nickel, some are chrome. Judging by the lack of neck angle, as i know the early ones had the necks set straight as opposed to a slight angle. Oh, I need 2 1965 Pots. but mainly...I need saddles. Any body want to dump their old bird bridge or saddles, call me at 773-259-6926. I would be willing to pay  a fair price. thanks!

Are you able to tell if it is indeed the original headstock or not?

Yes, it's sandwiched between maybe 4 laminates ending with Teak on the back and walnut? i think on the headstock. I can see on the side where it was cracked. This Phil Petrillo guy who fixed it is apparently a doctor of engineering and exotic wood. http://www.petilloguitars.com/ You can see on this site how he uses exotic laminates. Ok, Now...The big pain in the ass is locating at least 3 saddles, any condition. I need 2 tall ones and 1 short one.

BaCH has 'em. But you'll get the entire bridge (and tailpiece) along with the saddles... ;)
