Blue Man Group

Not sure who's aware of these guys, but I took the family to go see their show a few nights ago in Durham, NC.
If you dig percussion, up-tempo music and extreme visual effects, it's actually a really neat show.
There are a few skits and some audience participation pieces, but there is quite a bit of thought and technology that goes into these shows.

Honestly, I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did.  My family loved it - especially my 12 year old drummer.
They did a skit where they play percussion against three variable lengths of PVC and it really demonstrates how you can manipulate sound.

BTW, if any of you local guys haven't been there, the DPAC is a great venue.

Did they do the thing with sliding pieces of PVC pipe - like a giant trombone/drum?

Yeah, the Drumbone. That's the variable length tube I was trying to describe.  That was neat stuff.

They have a permanent show here in Chicago. It's funny when they first came out it was like really technological. Today it seems really dated, almost retro (the whole internet technology scrolling signs thing). Still the band kicks arse up in the ceiling. A good time. My sister in law absolutely hated it. She thought it was like the three stooges on drugs, just hated it.

I love Blue Man Group. Saw them at their permanent venue in Chicago, and both tours as they passed through Dayton Ohio.  The first "How to be a Rock Star" tour was great. Here is one of the finer moments featuring Venus Hum.
