The Outpost Cafe / Memorial Day weekend gig
« on: May 28, 2008, 04:23:24 AM »
We opened up summer by the lake at Nola's BBQ.  It was a WCMF (local classic rock station) event and a benifit for the Wilmont Cancer Ctr. We played outside from 6-10 Fri evening, talk about dream hours ! The stage and sound were top notch the crowd even better !  This was a paid gig but the bikers there put a pitcher on the stage and man did they fill it with $ we donated that to the cause.First we played a hour and a half tribute set to Zeppelin, It went over big time, then we did a classic rock set of Aerosmith, Alice, Bad Co. ,The Who etc and that went over even bigger.  LOTS of fun, in fact I can't remember a better time playing, the sun was shinning the wind was blowing and people were happy to be out and dancing their asses off.. I'm hopping some pics surface if they do I will post

The Outpost Cafe / Moving
« on: May 18, 2008, 02:04:06 PM »
Man I never thought this would happen, 15 years ago we bought a rundown 1840 farm house and poured our heart and souls into restoring it. Kids were never in our thoughts when we bought the place. In the past 15 years the school district especialy the middle and HS have gone in the dumper, lots of violence, gangs, assaults and sexual assaults. Not the place I want to send our daughter. So we are moving to a much better district, the town I'm from, were going home. I'm sad ,happy and excited all at once ! Man do I have a lot of stuff I never thought I'd leave here so I dragged stuff home accordingly. It is going to be a long summer wish me luck.

Hey guys I need Tony's contact info. Some one has contacted me with the idea of building accurate Thunderbird reproductions and he needs to locate hardware for the basses. He needs Tony's pickup covers. It sounds like he will use my bridge on the basses. Could be cool !

Fender Basses / '62 RI Jazz has landed !
« on: February 19, 2008, 05:40:36 PM »
My Jazz quest continues ! Right out of the case this bass feels better to me than the American standard. Love the neck, quite different than the AS, seems slimmer. Also I don't think this neck has the stiffing rods of the new basses, the '62 seems to just have more resonance, it just seems more alive. I gave the bass a quick set up and am very happy with how low I can get things. No complaints on QC Fender seems to be miles a head of Gibson it that respect. The three tone sunburst is quite subduded, almost like they forgot the yellow, I'll have to see it in day light. I don't mind a plain Jane really because it plays fantastic!  Pics to come !

The Outpost Cafe / Close call- chimney fire
« on: February 16, 2008, 03:35:33 PM »
Last night about 7:30 we had a chimney fire, super f'ng scary. I clean the chimney and stove every year, take pride in in being very cautious and safe. Everyone got out safe, thankfully our daughter was not home at the time, we have not kept it from her but certainly played it down. With the help of a friend I pulled the chimney and patched up the roof today. Next weekend I'm taking out the stove and ripping up the hearth. The fire department was nothing short of amazing. A few more min. and the fire would have spread past the metal chimney to to the structure. The flames were shooting out of the chimney, embers falling all over the roof, Looked like Mt. Visuvius .

Fender Basses / Repacement J pups ?
« on: January 31, 2008, 05:14:04 AM »
Well it didn't take me long to decide that the stock pups in my new J bass are not for me. I would like opinions on replacement pups. I want something with more out put and a blurrier sound. I am considering the usual suspects, Dimarzio, Seymour Duncan etc. I like Dimarzio pickups alot and have used them on many basses over the years I am particuraly interested in hearing about how their Js sound. Thanks in advance, Scott
