The Bass Zone / Re: Neck diving?

The contraption with the big metal plate mounted to the neckplate looks like an effective way to cut off your thumb while playing high the neck.

The Frankenstein Fenderbird with the pencil  sticking out of the upper horn is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

The Bass Zone / Re: Short Scale basses
« on: September 06, 2011, 06:26:07 AM »
I used to be completely unaware of the differences between short scale bass guitars and long scale bass guitars.
Until the day I saw Cry Of Love bass player Robert Kearns with his Gibson Triumph. That put a stop my blatant ignorance.
It was the best sounding bass I had ever heard/seen.

I can't say that I'm a short scale fan in particular. I just love the sound of those Les Paul Basses. And they happen to be short scale. There are short scales out there that I don't care about (7enders for example never did it for me)
In my collection there are 8 shorties and 5 long scales. (think it's about time I bought a few long scales to even the score a bit... LOL)

A few good shortie ambassadors:
Andy Fraser
Allen Woody
Robert Kearns

He also said that the road crew probably knew which mic was Wendy's automatically when setting up for a gig.

Did it smell like fish?   :rimshot:

I used these GBR640 Res-o-lites too on the BaCHbird Deluxe.
They even fitted in the original bushings that were on the bass.

The GBR640 are reverse wind nickel plated lightweight tuners.

On two other bass guitars that I own, I have GB528 tuners installed. Those are even lighter because they have a smaller mount plate.
Yet they still have the large gear and big clovers.

The Gotohs are rock solid and they run very smooth.

It puzzles me too.
They told me they have one more spalted top Telecaster bass available.
And five each of the other ones without binding and without spalted maple top and with just the single coil.

I made some more pics of the Telecaster Bass.
I only wish they had made more of them so I can start selling them bloody basses!

Oh no! Now I need to drive to Frankfurt to shoot just this one bass.  :o

I think the director hated bass players.  At 4:15 you can see the Ox's fingers moving - but there is not only no close-up of the bass player, they didn't even try to get him in any of the shots except the open and closing shot.
Well there wasn't much to look at was there? The man just stood there like a pillar of salt.
While the other three were very energetic I can understand why the director didn't focus on the bass player.

I think the black goes well with the red and white. (White Stripes?)
Chrome wouldn't complement it as good.

But I would prefer (black) large gear tuners.

Maybe you should bring Edith.
They did cover a Cat Stevens song in the nineties!
