I'm no purist. It's ok to be pop with a slight country influence.
There's always been pop-influenced country and country-influenced pop, and there have always been crossover stars. Don't forget that Waylon Jennings won his Grammy for his cover of MacArthur Park. So much for purity.
That's not what I'm objecting to. Rednex aren't either. They're a rock band mocking country.
And the current so-called country I consider crap is stuff like Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert put out. It's just third rate southern rock (and rap!) that talks about what it is to be "country" with references to country roads and back woods and such. The actual songs aren't country music in the least.
Anyway, time for some more good fiddlin'. Sorry, they're not as pretty as Linda Jarošová.
