No issues with Cher at all, I love the old girl! Thanks for posting the vid, I always drool over that squaw look, brings out the General Custer in me, cocked and loaded!
A lot of women singers sound similar, Cher sounds like Cher, no matter what she sings. Not much of a range, but an immediately recognizable tone. And it's her tone.
Same thing with old Neil, great songwriter. I've seen him twice in recent years.
Yeah, and I know that Deep Purple Mk 1 was cheesy, frilly shirts and buffed hairdos and all, but Kentucky Woman features a cracker of a guitar solo and some lovely bubbling bass lines by Nick Simper - especially in the middle eight.
And silly as it is (and most things about Meatloaf are real silly, let's face it), I always dug that Dead Ringer vid, it's one of those nonsense songs that always puts me in a good mood. And for the same reason, I love the Village People's YMCA too. And Tony Orlando's and Dawn's Tie A Yellow Ribbon. Plus Olivia Newton John's Physical and Xanadu or this here ...
Dave will probably hasten to add/insist that it is
not really country at all, but closer to truly
detestable stadium rock.
Maxine Nightingale's Right Back Where We Started From is another favorite. I'm hopeless. Guilty pleasures galore.
We should start a "Most shameful song liked"-thread. Only really embarrassing stuff qualifies.
