According to NYT, excess gear expected to bring $1,000,000. Proceeds to his various charities. Wife told him to thin the herd.

If that's "thinning", it must be a darn big herd.

The Ampeg B-12 that was estimated to bring $2-400 went for over $950, which is about 30% above actual market value. The 65 Jazz that was estimated at $7k went for 12. Those were the only items I watched before and after. If the others went similarly, there was a huge amount of money involved.
