I'm a recovering Unix systems administrator.  One of the publishers of good reference material for that line of work features various oddball critters on their book covers.  That little bugger was always my favorite:

Looks like a mercat on crack

chromium, funny you should post that.  I just picked up some Oracle SQL books, and they're published by the same company.  I have a moth and ants on my books.

When it comes to freaky looking critters, how about this (http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/enlarge/rosy-lipped-batfish-wilms.html)? They say it looks like Mick Jagger, but I think it could be the love child of Michael Jackson and Julia Roberts.

well since this has become a show your freaky animals thread here is the Tasmanian Tiger

It is actually a dog but has a pouch for its young like most Australian animals

I could have put a pic of a Platypus, being totally the weirdest animal alive but I'm sure you have all heard/seen one.

I read somewhere that most zoo's are not allowed to have swine as it is possible to transmit diseases to live stock pigs?

I also saw the Old West TV series on the history channel with David Caradine and he talked about how out west pigs ran wild and would strip the flesh off people in minutes. They would throw people/corpses to the pigs

Hey that is a great song and a fantastic video.

Ironically speaking of killing all humans Tasmania where the last of the Tigers lived is also one of the only true cases of total genocide  Where all of the Tasmanian Aborigines were all either killed by Europeans or the diseases that they brought with them. They are extinct.
