Well what can you say about this?

Would you buy an instrument that carries THAT name?

The stupid name is the least of his problems. He says his design is based on a particular speaker box design which had the aim of reducing unwanted resonance. But speaker design is about playback ...accurately reproducing what's already been recorded. That's not what you want in the instrument that makes the sound in the first place.

It's also why I dislike just about any bass gear that calls itself "hi fi".

What a strange site. Apart from the pyramids there doesn't seem to be any consistency between the designs or the marketing. The basses are called Mr <something>, the guitars Blue Morpho. Mr Serious ??? looks like an Alembic with an unfortunate growth. Mr Pastorius - well, I'm not an expert on the Mr Pastorious we've all heard of, but I can't see the connection.

There's a series of kids books called Mr Men, which would give him plenty of scope for naming future bass models.

Here's a couple that I'd like to see.

The Mr. Man

...and the Mr. T

You can easily tell PhilT and Mr.T apart.

PhilT wears less gold.

Alembic, BC Rich, Ovation Magnum and, yes, the unfortunate Elephant man all rolled into one.

That said, I'd still like to hear how that pyramid concept sounds. In theory, it does increase surface for resonance. Whether that is good or bad or just doesn't make much difference, I'd like to have my ears decide.

Looks like they're based in Hungary. Nice trip in the interests of scientific research?

The CIJ Fender Jaguar baritone was marketed in Japan as "Bottom Master".

The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

I always thought the Fender name's real stupid. A friend of mine has a bumper sticker on his car bumper, reading: Fender. I always tease him: That's not a fender, that's a bumper.
