Bongiovi is a normal Italian surname.
(The poodle's real name is John Bongiovi)

Yep, who knows, they may be related.

The recipe may really have come down from Great Grandma Bongiovi in Sicily as they claim, but the name and pronunciation certainly are a nice coincidence.

Common surname, Jon probably changed his because of the inability of 'Americans' to pronounce furrin words properly, typical for performers to do so. Props to the Bongiovi clan for not following suit...if they really were Chaim Weitz marketers they'd be screaming at potential customers how much their famous relative loves their sauce.

My wife is on the Bon Jovi e-mail list (which hawks everything from JBJ wine to underwear) - the link came in today's e-mail, so at some level Jon has his hand in the cookie, er, sauce jar. If ya got a few bucks it's not hard to bring your own "special" recipe to market.

Typical Guineaus, get the whole extended family involved.  My grandfather, Cataldo, was the first of the family to emigrate to the US in 1904, 24 years old with $4 in his pocket.  He managed fairly quickly to bring his best friend and cousin Michele, brothers Antonio and Giovanni and sister Carmela here.  Eventually he had 3 barber shops in little Italy with his brothers running the other 2.

Sammy Hagar did the same thing. As I recall, he became the second largest producer of tequila in the world and sold the company.

Don't forget Bun E Carlos Coffee (http://www.coffeecaffeine.com/BUNE/)! I'm sure it's about to overtake Starbucks in sales any day now.

And Jerry Garcia ties.  The Grateful Dead ran neck and neck with Kiss for marketing.  They were pure capitalism in the name of peace and love. And junk food and custom BMWs.
