So RIC posted this photo on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ricguitars) and added that "the color is not on it yet." And the guessing game begins.

Pink paisleyglo for me please
-
Do Rick fans REALLY have so little to do with their time that they get into this??????? :P
OK, then I get to vote.
Olympic White with tort.
Or is that the answer to a different question?

With no new models, just two left now in production, and no options other than the five stock colors, COY is all we are left to toy with now.
-
Actually, white would be pretty cool......hasn't been offered on a production bass in over 20 years or so.

How about a return of Sea Green?
-
To avoid being hypocritical, wouldn't Rickenbacker have to invent a brand new color that's never been used before on a guitar or bass by any other company? Would suck for them to copy someone else :-)

How about "Legal Pad Yellow"?
-
Puke Chunk Orange. It would go nicely with Montezuma Brown (Montezuma's Revenge). ;D

Already done.

John Hall posting in the RIC corporate forum (http://www.rickenbacker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15588): "Now coming through production and ready for immediate shipment. Only 15 SnowGlo basses produced for domestic sale. Contact your authorized Rickenbacker dealer for information."
Stunning, IMHO.

It is stunning. I wonder how many will be shipped to Japan.
-
I'll bet you could buy a slightly used Ric, and have it re-finished in white for less than these will go for. :P
Good looking bass. Love white, especially on a Ric.
-
I'll be darned. Here I tried to speak Fender-style heresy (Olympic White) and they went and did it.
Mebbe I better buy some lottery tickets.

Once my band breaks up, now in our 21st year, I'll have my lefty 4001S refinned in white.

And one day I'm going to do just that, but mine will have either double binding (pinstripe) or checkerboard, sort of a "White Shadow". And a RIHS, and toaster at 1/2" spacing.
-
I just want them to bring back Montezuma Brown. :)
-
I'm led to believe that most of the US stock of the 4003Snow Glos were snapped up instantly, but that there are few shipped and available in Germany. If anyone there can find one for sale, I have a good friend from another bass forum here in Australia that would give his right errr.... something for one.
-
The white is pretty, much better than the yellow. To me the yellow just doesn't look right.

May I have your permission to rub your avatar for luck...?
-
Sounds like an old Arte Johnson line from Laugh-In:
"Would you like to rub my avatar, little girl?" :-*
-
[sobbing] no permission... [/sobbing] ;)
-
Yesssssss......yesssssss my precious, you may rub my avatar.
Woo hoo hoo..........

Really love the white. can't tell for sure but looks like no binding also. I have a Burg and midnight blue so white would complement nicely. Maybe lucky I am still out of work.
Price will be insulting..... then again i play foderas so everything is relative....
-
So most of the white ones were shipped to Germany and only 15 were made for the US market (and sold within 10 minutes). Uwe, or anyone else in Germany: do you know where I can locate one in Germany?
-
I could make some tasteless joke about Aryan bass but I'll keep out of this one...
Good luck with the hunt, Ilan... I suspect Uwe is out of the country or in some deep, dark bunker with limited internet access from one of his recent comments...

Better email or PM him, he doesn't check the Rick forum every day.
-
One of the 15 US numbers has been obtained by an Australian from our local bass forum. He's done well scoring that one, which is currently flying across the Pacific.

Is this the place to raise the point that finish does not influence sound much ... :-X

It's a bass. They all sound pretty much the same to your listeners. OTOH what your audience can distinguish is color. So a cool finish may be more important than sound. ;)
As you know, RIC currently makes only two bass models, 4003 and 4004, with no custom options available, and no new model to look forward to. So all we are left to toy with are finishes.
-
You can educate them though: Whenever people see my bass collection in the office, the braver ones among them hesitantly ask: "But since they are electric, don't they all sound the same?" I then proceed to plug in my EB-1 - "Listen for yourself!" - and then something like a Victory - "Hear a difference?" - and they all go: "Oh, that DOES SOUND DIFFERENT!".
It probably comes from my Purple penchant, but I will forever consider fireglo as the Ric color. When I think of a Ric 4001 or 4003, I think of a red one.
But I feel with you: Being a Ricster means coming to terms with the fact of liking one type of bass with one shape for half a century, no comparison to the - albeit failure-bred - wealth of variations in the Gibson kingdom! 8)

Well, here we go! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rickenbacker-4003-Bass-SnowGlo-/221275331857?ViewItem=&ssPageName=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123&item=221275331857&nma=true&si=x5M14Oa9VBA8Qg5FiEt362yR0nE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Just my opinion, but... I'm kind of a white Ric fanatic. I like white basses in general. But paying 50% extra for a color? That's a little extreme. I "get" the possibility of future value/collect-ability, but still. :-\ Also, the binding looks bad on the ebay one.
-
the binding looks bad on the ebay one.
It's literally darker than the finish and is only going to get worse with age as the plastic absorbs crud. It makes the bass just look cheap.
-
RIC made them pull the listing. It's on their website now for the same price.
-
As requested, the german online shop of thomann has listed the white 4003...

-
2.199 € = US$3K
-
They should have made them 4003Ss. They are special anyway and would look way better without the binding.
-
SS model...? :o :vader:

They have already done a limited edition C64 in white.

I missed that one. It is beautiful.

Except for the C64 reverse headstock which mercifully isn't shown in that photo.

Can't argue with that.

Ha ha! Yup.
