Gibson for 2016?
« on: January 18, 2015, 12:29:22 PM »
Someone at the My Les Paul forums started a topic to speculate about what Gibson will offer for next year. I think he intended to be serious, but some of the predictions weren't. Here are a few that made me smile:

Special bridge with "Robot strumming ©"

New improved bulkier G-Force tuners

Super wide neck with spinners, curb feelers, fuzzy dice, and lime green burst finish

138% price increase to cover losses from 2015

Velcro body backing so you don't need a strap - "The New Les Paul Strapless!"

New ABR-2 Robot Tunomatic Bridge -Now Voice Activated!

Baked linoleum fretboard

Built in Licensed By Marshall battery powered mini amplifier with mini Celestion Greenback imbedded in the upper rear bout

Artificial Intellegence Robot tuners that tell YOU what key you'll be playing in

Specially designed to keep taking your money after you've already paid for it

Feel free to add your own.  :)

We should propose these models for Fender's new line, since relics and player wear are so valuable:

The Roadkill model, which is pre-dragged behind a 1950 Ford pickup for a genuine relic condition

The Fender Hendrix model, with major burns down the front created with Ronson lighter fluid

The Fender Grizzly Adams model, with a body carved by chainsaw, also featuring claw marks from a Grizzly bear

The Squier Dukes of Hazzard model, ready to be re-assembled after being crashed around in the trunk of a Dodge Charger after doing repeated aerials specifically staged for Fender

....whaddaya think?

Am I the only one who thinks a Les Paul or SG that can play itself is a good thing? Imagine how much less band drama there would be without the actual person playing the guitar...Gibson is on to something here  ;D

P.S. I'm 95% joking of course.

If we're going for a DofH model, then the Daisy Duke extra curvy body would be interesting...

How about a built-in anti-wanking electric shock and a metronome for the 2016 basses? That's assuming Gibson even continues offering basses.

LMAO!

"Velcro body backing so you don't need a strap - "The New Les Paul Strapless!""

This is highly impractical for those of us who while liking to play naked shave all over. I see the majority of US-American bassists ruled out by such a callous move. You guys have a thing with cutting nature away.

Show some imagination! You could take a cue from Flea and his bandmates: wear a velcro sock! With some practice you could make the bass twirl around as you play.

Sigh. It has never occurred to me before how much a young man's instrument a bass guitar actually is.  :-\

This is worse than high school, lol.

Anyway, how about The Impeccable Finish Series.

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)
