That's not a sixties bird. It a bicentennial from 1976. Huge difference in pickups.

This one, $5800 with case plus shipping to Italy.  Unbroken.

Having two functioning kidneys is highly overrated.

Alanko, alas, only '79 ebonys! (I know. It's embarrassingly specific).

Isn't this one of those "If you have to ask, you can't afford it..."" scenarios?

Being a simple man...

Wouldn't a modernish bird with a pair of thunderbucker pickups sound basically very similar to a vintage bird?

This appeals to my inner parsimonious Scotsman, but I'm not generally a fan of vintage instruments.  :-X

Sure, especially if you have no clue as to what a vintage 60s reverse Tbird is compared to the Epi...and lack the commitment of capital to find out.  I'm not knocking the Epis, they're great value.  But they don't have the perceived value of a 50 plus year old classic.  Fiats ain't Ferraris.

OP is a Warwick and other bass equipment endorser so he gets to use a lot of free gear. Maybe he can get a TBird from Gibson.

I understand but OP is on the the 'Vintage 60s Thunderbirdird Quest'.

Why someone would put out three times the money for a late model Gibson vs the Epi is beyond me.

Alberto, it's understandable that $5800 for an unbroken '64 is more than you can afford, but that's actually a good price in today's market. You may have a hard time finding what you want at a better price..

If I had $5800 to spend on a bass, that beauty would be on its way to me right now. Somebody is going to be a very happy camper one day.
