More of a sour smirk than a furor really.
What Saville did was wrong on too many accounts, but erasing him out of history (not showing the 70ies clips where he appeared etc) is wrong. If you did that to everyone within rock'n'roll/pop of the last half-century, I have a hunch we'd be severely thinning out the ranks (let's not even begin to talk about artists in centuries before). It's like Dave Holland, drummer of formerly Trapeze and Judas Priest, who is written out of rock history (his drum tracks even being erased on a Tony Iommi solo album) because he did time for drum pupil molesting (the drum pupil being both a minor and mentally challenged). If he was breaking the law at one point in his life (pun semi-intended), then fine, send him to prison, but don't act like he never existed because he has this black cloud (this pun fully intended) hovering over him.
