Thanks for all the offers of help guys. Yeah, i'm really looking forward to this. I always intended to get a JS2, but expected to get the 70s humbucker version. Glad I got this though, and very surprised. It was one of those bids that I really wasn't expecting to win with.

Looking forward to playing it out!

That reminds me of the strangest JS2 I ever saw, about 5-6 years ago in San Antonio, it had one Hag pickup and one later humbucker and it appeared to be factory original. A few years later Robert (Hornisse) mentioned having owned one like that. Since he's only about 90 miles up the road, I'd guess it's the same bass he owned.

Anyway, I'm glad you got this one.

I've seen two photos of (believed) factory original JS IIs that had a Bisonic in the neck, and a small almost-guitar-humbucker sized pickup in the bridge.  It was another type of Hag pickup - like this one:  http://www.guitarchives.nl/guitarsgalore/parts_detail.php?id=4   It had a small plastic bezel/surround.

Wish I would have saved the pics

Good memory Dave!  I bought that one from a store in Seattle.  It had a back neck unfortunately.  I got it cheap though for around $225 IIRC.  That later humbucking pickup appeared on those Hagstrom Swede basses too.

Just don't get caught throwing them out of the pram... ;)

That made me think... not being seen in the US (at a guess - a quintessentially British program), there is this nutty UK chap called James May (from the car program "Top Gear) that has been "playing with toys" in a BIG way... this weeks program featured a Scalextric track (toy racing cars for those that don't know) that was over 2 miles long - a world record... the next program (being screened over Christmas) features a model train track (00 guage) over 10 miles long... there will also be a Lego house "life-size"...

Thank god you didn't mention the full-size Airfix model Spitfire from the first programme.
