That's not really close to a Fender VI. Has a Strat-type bridge/tremelo, the pickup switches are a single Strat-type, and it has Strat pickup arrangement(slanted bridge pickup), and it even looks like the "control plate" is actually just a differently painted part of the pickguard, looks like it has guitar strings too.

I always thought the guitar was cool, being an impressionable kid in high school. I first discovered it with Todd Rungren, which fit perfectly with the whole glam thing, to me. I have fond memories of the music made with that guitar.

To me it's an icon

Guilty pleasures: I always liked Racey ...  :-[ :-[ :-[ They are also the original inventors of ZZ Top's later stage moves though Racey were a bit more youthful/less laid back in approach!
