I really don't need another project, but I've decided on one.

I have both Kay KB-2 and Lyle SG-style basses, but both have some issues and they're not flippin' my switch.  The Lyle has promise but needs the fretboard removed and glued back on...and I'm not sure I want to do it.

So...I am going to start casting around for an inexpensive used EB-0 with the express intention of adding a bridge pickup to it and making it a short scale EB-3.   I had a decent EB-0 but I decided I wanted an EB-3 for the double pickups, then found out that the balance was lousy and the SG design stuck the 34" neck WAY out to the left.  It just wasn't comfortable to play.

But that Epi EB-0 is a nice bass, and with a second pickup it would be a keeper.  No timeline on this, but who knows when Ebay will turn one up for around $100....I'll watch.

Maybe in the meantime I'll get off my butt and get the Gretsch pickup mounted in the old Lyle hollowbody I have had sitting around.  Maybe.

I've bought a bass from Soundscheapinc (the seller) and it was a very good value.  They are extremely forthcoming and divulge all possible information about the damage or fault on the instruments they sell.

I might have taken a run at that one IF there was more angle to the neck break so there was maybe 1-2 inches of angle to the break.  That's such a square break that I don't think my skills are up to making a solid repair that will hold up.

But that's right in line with the idea....pick up one in moderate distress, then frankenmod it.

Bill - what kind of nut is that that you used on your NR?  Do you like it?  I bought some bone to fabricate a nice one for my BaCH NR, and I didn't even think to go looking for an adjustable one like that.  That's a great idea.
