Res-o-lite tuners for Bach NR

Having these two Bach NRs now for about 2 years I've come to the conclusion that the machine heads are pretty much worthless. Those two basses are always out of tune! I can turn the ear noticeably before the worm gear turns.

I know some of you have installed Res-O-Lite tuners. Which ones did you use?  How much modification was required?

Resolites will fit in the same tuner holes.

These are the correct ones.  I can most likely beat any price you can find.  Let me know if you want a set, I'm placing an order Tuesday.

I used these GBR640 Res-o-lites too on the BaCHbird Deluxe.
They even fitted in the original bushings that were on the bass.

The GBR640 are reverse wind nickel plated lightweight tuners.





On two other bass guitars that I own, I have GB528 tuners installed. Those are even lighter because they have a smaller mount plate.
Yet they still have the large gear and big clovers.





The Gotohs are rock solid and they run very smooth.

I can do $135 shipped on the GBR 640s.  Still a lot for a a bass in that price range

That said, the tuners on my Bachs don't seem any worse than original Kluson Reverses as far as tuning problems.  My crackpot theory is that the more string wraps on the post the better to stay in tune.

What about Hipshot?  I use their tuners and they are incredibly well made and stay in tune forever!   Not too pricey either.

I use the Hipshot Ultralites also, they keep excellent tune including the licensed ones.  Visually they are a little lacking on a big headstock from the front because of the short shaft.  I trim 1/4" off the top of the Cataldo headstock to make them appear longer.

I went the GBR640 Res-o-lites too. Very happy with them.
