USA Lakland Decade (curse you Ebay!!)
« on: February 19, 2008, 02:07:15 PM »
Thought I'd post this here (I'm sure its probably already up on the Pit), in case some of you hadn't seen it yet.
This Decade has been haunting me for weeks trying to get me to bid on it, even though I certainly don't have the cash to. Mainly because its all sparkly-teal, which reminds me of my Danelectro.

Also the same guy has a Gold Lakland Hollowbody, and elsewhere on Ebay is a gold Sheff

I just keep repeating to remind myself "I'm happy with my Thunderbird".

That bass looks so cool.

I wish I could buy it but I am in waiting for the DPLEIII

:o  Thaaaats beautiful!  Kinda reminds me of some of the early DPLEIII concepts, as ideas were being kicked around:

Ebay has been killing me lately.  I should just stop looking.  Seems like income tax season is forcing a lot of cool gear out of the woodwork.

Isn't this about a $4K list bass?

Nice, I don't remember seeing those particular concepts; but based on the ebay one, they would have looked amazing.

And I think you're right about both the tax season and the $4k list price. Theres a little over 5 hrs left on the bidding. I bet the price either skyrockets at the last few moments, or someone is going to get a steal of a bass.

I want to say the street price on a passive one like that was in the mid 2K range, give or take.  I kinda expect this one to sell around there.  It'll probably get sniped up at the end.  If not, I feel bad for the guy selling, and happy for the guy buying.

I wish I had the funds, but am really pyched about the DPLEIII

Looks like we are getting it the way we designed it!

Only 10 active version to be made!

I'm looking foward to the new Chisonic pickups as well!

They sounded great at the Taklbass Lakland open house

Dude got a pretty good deal. $1900. I was sorely tempted, but I have CC fatigue...

That was a good deal - not much more than the DPLE Skyline version, IIRC (although those will have preamp setups and the new pickups).  The Decade is one of those basses that really does something for me, visually speaking.  I guess that makes sense, since it kinda has Magnum and NR TBird inspired design cues - and I always found those instruments to be very sexy.

Can't wait to see the DPLEIII - that final design came out beautiful!

Uwe thinks they are more Wal than Magnum/Non Reverse

I could see Wal in there too, with that stubby lower horn - but much more handsome since they are adorned with all that glistening chrome hardware  ;D ::)

I do see the Wal resemblance but there's a lot more to the design than that.

I think I am going to put a Kahler on mine, if it has the sonic potential for one.

Just noticed 2 more Lakland Decades on Ebay today.  One sunburst w/ Rosewood and the other White w/Maple; both sporting the Chi-sonic pickups. The white with black pickguard looks fantastic, I must say. $2800

Also theres a 5 string Silver Scheff on there also.
