Well, he does own up to it being a 1990ies' reissue in the text. Wonder how he got to the 1971 though, that year was definitely no Thunderbird one.

"This is NOT the same TBIRD that Gibson NOW OFFERS (at a lower price),  This is a MUCH HIGHER QUALITY INSTRUMENT!"

Idiot!  Not only is it the same model, the street price in 91 was lower than the current price.

Thunderbird that was made in 1971.

Truly horrible year for the Tbird. You do not see many of those around.

There was a time I would have thought that '71 bird was ugly, but like the NR I find myself admiring its ugliness now. That big hulking coupe looks mean to me now, as opposed to just big and unwieldy. Especially in black. Maybe it's because I can recognize similarities in the following year's Mercury Cougar lines in it as well. I like it...

I had a black '97 until recently, that was the last year before the retro Tbird.  4.6L, IRS.  It got 20 mpg at around 80 mph on L.A.-Fla cruise w/back seat removed and 10 basses stuck in it.  Good handling big coupe...why the hell can't they build a Mustang w/IRS?  I almost totaled an '06 rental convertible when the rear end got squirrely on damp pavement.

If you get squirrely enough, independent rear suspension won't save you....not saying how I discovered this, mind you....

I still have my '97 with the 4.6. They offered me a grand on trade-in when I bought my Mustang 2-1/2 years ago. I decided to keep it, and it's still going strong. Really great car. That black '71 is wicked!

I don't mind the live axle on the Mustang. It still out handles the new Camaro and destroys the Challenger. You just HAVE to lower it! Best mod I did.
