Just a thought:

Did Sonex by Gibson ever make a bass guitar?
I don't remember seeing one.

Nope.

I have the geetar (180 custom version; there was also the basic 180-standard and the deluxe, which were almost the same except that the deluxe came in more colour options, and the barely related, as in name only, Artist version - the  later GGC 700 was more of a Sonex than the Artist - it was like a Custom with set neck and actual wood body).  Great axes; that was a good period for dirty fingers pups.
