Gettin' it done with the EB1. Jam at the Village Trestle in Goffstown NH. You know it's in the pocket when the drummer makes a face like this.

I'm sure I could be accused of being too old school.  But it's hard to beat the coolness factor of an EB-1.

Good luck finding an unmodified one Baz. My 44 year old output jack finally had to be replaced but it's all original other than maybe a cap and the mod bar I put on the bridge. No breaks either. There's no faking when you play one. When you lock in with it, every note sings with musical authority in a gloriously rich, warm and indulgently bassy timbre. It gives my brain sensations no other bass can!
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

36 years of playing, and I don't think I've ever seen an EB-1 in person. Cool, unique looking bass!

I saw and played Grog's EB-1 before he bought it. Great bass. His is the circa-1970 reissue.

I've been lucky to have had two of them, the first one I believe only cost me $470.00. They've gone up a tad in the last twenty years...............

Refresh my memory, did you trade the first one in at Willie's? If so, I played that one too.

Yes, I bought the first one at Willie's when he was in his first space, just to the right of where he is now. Then traded it in to him towards the one I have now..........

I owned one back in say...2007 or 2006...1 1968 EB-1...Great bass...but I could not get a good cut through tone...it was an oompa bass....probably great for playing polka..I had played on a few years before and it was Cranking, cut through ass kicking....at least for a mudbucker bass...Still would love to get another one..

I've had quite a few basses with Mudbuckers on them, I don't think any two basses sounded exactly alike. My '67 EB-2 has the smoothest pickup, many of the other sound a bit raspy.............

I try to get the Felix sound from mine and it's not hard through my walkabout. I was playing through a carvin rig at the open mic but with the right eq it still sounded good. You're not going to play like Jaco or Flea on one but for meat and potatoes rock, it rules.

Who wants to play like Jaco or Flea? Not I.
