Note that it's a square inch of muscle tissue. ;D

Probably a good idea in this case - just a little late.

I want to hear Dylan cover a Scorpions tune.
Maybe (Rock You Like A) "Hurricane"

No, it's just that a certain Kraut person around here is always looking for excuses to steer the conversation toward DP or Priest.  :P   Even in a Dylan remake thread.

I'm not naming any names.

I'd count my blessings, Dave. At least he doesn't go off on rants about Accept and Scorpions.

Manual or automatic?

I don't know but I'll bet it has a quick-change rear.

Dylan covers?
Everything else pales in comparison to this:

and the 1976 version (audio only):

Do not misconstrue this posting as an invitation to discuss here whether Hurricane Carter was guilty or not. Nobody here knows. Dylan believed he was innocent and wrote a great anthemic song about it, that's the sole point me thinks.

A friend of mine went to see Dylan live back around '87 - there was a guy in the audience who kept yelling for him to play "Hurricane". After numerous "requests" from this guy, Mr Zimmerman said, (in true Dylan style):
"I ain't playin' no Hurricane - he was guil-tee!" ;D

If you McCartney fans have never seen/heard this stuff, it's a great piece of history...

The Bass Zone / Re: Fav Riffs To Play
« on: March 21, 2009, 07:48:01 AM »
When it comes to the Peter Gunn theme I always liked the "Crime Medley" version by The Tubes on What Do You Want From Live".

My personal fave riffs (as opposed to complete songs or actual bass lines):
The Barney Miller theme
"Gutter Cat vs The Jets" - Alice Cooper
"Maybe I'm A Leo", "Into The Fire" & "Black Night"- Deep Purple
"The Man With The Golden Arm" - Sweet
"Superstition" - Stevie Wonder
"Wrathchild" - Iron Maiden
"Whipping Post" - Allmans
Although I haven't completely mastered it yet, I also love "Linus and Lucy" from the Peanuts cartoons. ;D

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: How many 4x10's around here?

I own an Ampeg B40. It's a 4 x 10 inch cab. It came with the V4B head.
The cab is not my favorite. It a bit large to haul around. It is not the most effective cab either. No tight lows.
I get better, deeper and tighter lows out of my Eden D210XLT, which is a 2 x 10 inch  :o

But the V4B's dimensions call for an old Ampeg cab underneath! ;D
The B40 is a sealed box, so you won't get lows like a ported cab, at least not with the stock speakers. The Eden has some generous porting, as I recall. Some of the newer design 10' speakers will get down into the 40-50hz range, but even with those the cabinet design won't do what a vented enclosure will (if that's your bag). That said, old Ampegs with 10s (mainly the SVT) weren't designed for deep lows - the concept was to ignore the fundamental frequencies (which were considered problematic in some respects) in order to produce a tone that sounded more focused and balanced in a group context. It's that warm growl that drew me to the old 'pegs in the first place. I always figure that if you're going through the PA, you should be getting the big lows from the system.

You mean like "Uranus has a ring of debris around it."? That's a scientific fact.

I prefer the sci-fi approach.

When we buy meat or cheese for instance it is nice being able to say I would like 300grams of ham or 200g of ham because guess what I might not want just a half or quarter pound.

Take Freud's comments with a grain of salt - the toilets flush backwards there, y'know ;D
I routinely see people order 1/8lb or even 1/3lb at the deli. Some even just say "give me 5 slices of ham, thin please". I, for one don't get all knotted up about precise measurements of luncheon meats.
