Well my original band Nomadic has finally finished our 4 song EP. Here's a rockin little instrumental with plenty of Ric crunch.

Excellent EP, got my copy yesterday. Buy it! The bass player is a damn fine singer too. ;)

That 4x10" is an excellent cab.

Finally some! Their last single which reminds me of Purple's "Smooth Dancer" (oddly released few years later...).
Johnny sporting a Fender Jazz and Sonja Kristina hair. Great stuff.

Records Are Like Life has got Rich Schlosser on drums and Andy on (almost) all other instruments and vocals . As a result the album sounds much more intimate than its successor.

Got the first album now and it is good and even more eccentric than the Columbia album. Reminds me of Shawn Phillips' stuff from the same era and also early Wigwam.  "Low Tide Island" could be some 90's lo-fi stuff like Elliot Smith.

And I also sorted out who plays bass on "Avenging Annie". It's not Abe Laboriel but Andy himself! My Holland print vinyl doesn't have the lyric/credit innersleeve but I spotted an US press on eBay which had and there it read. :)

On his new solo album he plays quite a lot bass. Producer/drummer Steve Jordan wanted Keith to do that. Great album btw.

Fender Basses / Re: Crouching Tiger Hidden Mudbucker

Now that is what a jazz should look like! Maybe one of Doug Rauch's?

Doubt it, he seemed to have only one.

He also had Jazz Basses with block markers during his stint with Buzzy Linhart's Music and The Voices Of East Harlem but they didn't have a mudbucker (or a P-pickup in the middle). That black "funk machine" was also played by his predecessor in Santana, David Brown, during 1971. Maybe Doug got it off him.

Anyway, thanks for mentioning one of my absolute favourite bass players ever! :)

Finally the vinyl! I'm pretty pleased that two albums that I've played on and written some stuff too are out on vinyl. Sort of a childlike dream ever since I started playing and buying records. :)

Both available from me if anyone is etc. The second album is also available on separate cd, the first one comes with a cd. PM me

Looks great and definitely needs no pickguard.

Hmmm, G&L Asat with T-Bird pickups. Has anyone tried?

Thanks! I guess I'll order the cd. I've been looking for the LP but the prices are a bit high.

What are your thoughts on "Resolution"? It was a big disappointment for me after the "Andy Pratt" album and all the praise I read about it. The title track is good and I also like "Karen's Song" (sounds like Jellyfish) but overall it is ruined by ultrasmooth production and arrangements.

I got the "It's About Music" CD release of the "Avenging Annie"-album early 2014 on evilBay for $ 14.95 ...... but it looks like it's OOP again.

Yes, but it's apparently being remastered.

Has anyone heard his first solo "Records Are Like Life"? It is supposedly as eccentric as his second.

OK. This place is promising a new remaster but we'll see:

The bass player uses this bass on stage but could it be on the album too? Slothead EB3L isn't it?

Albit B-200. Vintage japanese transistor amp perhaps?

Did anyone else pick up this fantastic album released last year? Great songs, witty lyrics and a warm production. There's a slight Genesis/Collins -vibe on the drum department and I bet it's not a coincidence since Jim is a huge "Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" fan.

Apparently Jim and his Japanese band did some gigs too:

Is that an EB-3L? Don't know the name of the player either but there's the mighty Glenn Kotche on drums!

The songs is from Jim O'Rourke's "Insignificance" album. This is from his latest "Simply Songs". Same bass, but different player (most likely Sudoh Toshiaki):

But I like it, Pekka! Unsurprisingly, as I have a soft spot for artsy pop. Just motivated me to get the CD (and something new from him too).

Where did you get the cd? I thought there was only a japanese reissue. I have it on vinyl and also "Resolution", the album Rolling Stone died over back in '76. Unfortunately it isn't nearly as good but what did Rolling Stone ever knew?

I found this album via Jim O'Rourke whose latest album "Simple Songs" is recommended too. Great artsy pop too.
