Pilgrimage Pt II
« on: May 11, 2018, 05:42:32 PM »

Here's a few the shots I got while visiting with Uwe, I'd highly recommend Rob's "The Gibson Bass Book" for much better descriptions (and it's super cool too!)

Thank you again to my very gracious host Uwe Hornung.

Somehow, I'm responsible for this bass......

Me with it, note the end of a shell case just below the tip of my thumb.

Sorry (not sorry!) but my off duty drag queenie self got to enjoy many very cool basses!
With the rare '86 Thunderbird II, so cool, I had a bass orgasim!

I really liked how this sounded!

A look down one row of basses, note that we're 23 floor above downtown Frankfurt.

A Zebrawood close up

Large headstock 1986 Thunderbird.

Three pickups and a Pearloid Firebird PG

EB-6s

It's quite something when you sit with something such as this.......

Non Reverse coolness!

A rare Gibson Goth.

Les Paul!

"Fat Bottom Girls".....

'74 Mustang Blue, I liked this bass' tone a lot too.

My dream short scale!

The Primavera

No pickup!

I really liked the Q80, as somewhat 7ender shaped objects go, this thing is pure badass looking and sounding - I kinda want one now!

Off duty drag queen meets SPCB (WCB1987).

And out in the lobby.........Just a few Explorers.

Great pics, Mark!

Had you forgotten that you were responsible for suggesting the finish on the gunshot slothead EB-0L? IIRC you meant blue burst with orange edges, but still, it was your idea.

I do remember suggesting it Dave, I just didn't think Uwe would really do it!

Always cool to see these basses in on person. One day I hope to see those two six stringers myself....

That's a custom pickguard on the burst NR-II right? Looks a little crowded, maybe Uwe should sell some.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

Super pix, nice to see both you guys having fun.

And I didn't think Uwe would take me seriously when I suggested inlaying the shell casing to help fill in the area that had been blown away.

Love the photos! And about that desk, a classic case of German perfectionism.

I made it worse as the visit went on, you'll notice the picks in between the strings, well by the time I had to leave there were about 7-8 of them added to the desk.......... ;)

Omg, this is what Gibson bass heaven is like?

Mark, you are looking great!

Seeing my Blueshawk bass makes me weepy, but at least it found a good home. I really think it was a great first attempt, at the bass prototype. It would be great to build a second version (Rob). The circuit really works great on the bass with the Varitone.

I still love the joker Charvel bass.

Mark you are correct that these pictures brings back a flood of fond memories.

 Thanks John!
It is indeed Gibson bass heaven, I wish I could have played them all through a large rig! Probably get Uwe evicted for it!  I knew right away that was the bass you'd built when I saw it - it's beautiful!
The SCPB is pretty cool, I'd rock it!
