The Outpost Cafe / Re: Glenn Tipton - Parkinson’s

I don't really get why K.K Downing was "shocked and stunned" that he was'nt asked to rejoin. He was the one leaving in the first place, he was'nt fired. But OTOH, if you take a look at his initial statement when he left and pair it with his recent you'll see that it was Glenn he had a fall out with, and now he feels that he ..."was and is unappreciated by more than one member"..

Moore just plays every note dead-serious and as if his life (and that of the world!) depends on it.

That's one major reason why he is up high on my favorite guitarplayers list. I've put Paul Kossoff and Peter Green in that category as well.

It has a three point bridge because it's a post 1972 one. They did'nt come with nylon saddles as far as I know of.

The Silverburst finishes often turn to gold because the clearcoat turns yellow.

I thought the Metallica part was'nt as much Yngwie-style. It was rather what Kirk try to do but he always ends up failing.

I think it's too bad they did'nt pump out some more info from the previous owner since he/she also was the original and only owner. My guess is it has been modified after purchase simply because the control plate material looks considerably thicker (the white layer) than what Gibson usually used for their two ply. Maybe the original very thin and fragile plate was a victim of the usual output jack accident, and when making a new control plate, the owner opted for a sturdier material, got rid of the optional functions not used, while adding what the owner thought was missing (maybe individual vol controls?). Furthermore to prevent any new accident they put the input jack on the side.

Also I wonder what's with the label tape on the case. "1979 GIBSON LES PAUL "TRIUMPH". THE INSULT RECORDING BASS"

Gibson Basses / Re: Dire financial situation at Gibson?

I believe Henry is a visionary alright. It's just that his vision miss the target over and over again. If he manages to lure new creditors to his realm things will probably get worse because he has no grasp on reality at all.

I found this intention interesting:
Quote
“eliminating product segments that do not perform to our expectations and have little upside in the future.”

I wonder what the take on this is? I would'nt be surprised if Henry considers the consumer products high on the upside while some of the musical instruments brands are on the downside in the future. I'm no expert but would'nt consumer products run at higher cost in product development than musical instruments do.

Yeah, the emerged decal outlines was also one of the details (apart from the tan top coat) which helped ignite the excessive heat exposure theory.

That's a great version indeed! I've seen BÖC more than a couple of times, even with the orignal line-up, but I don't remember Lanier playing as extended a solo on guitar ever. His "artfully sloppy" style contrasts nicely with Roeser's sleek melodicism. And the drumming ... signature Bobby Rondinelli, say no more!

Speaking of Rondinelli I can't help but remember that one time I happened to combine the word sloppy with the name Blackmore in one and the same sentence. I was'nt sensitive enough to use "artfullly" before sloppy thus getting quite a reaction.

I wonder if the neck has been exposed to a lot of heat in the past? The finish has darkened a lot.
