Gibson Basses / Re: Hello, I am A Gibson Bass addict......
« on: January 18, 2008, 01:23:35 PM »
Thanks for sharing John. Hello all. I'm a Gibson Bass addict. It all started after about a year of playing bass. I had borrowed a Ric 4001 and my brother and guitarplayer of the band bought me an Alder bodied walnut Grabber. 2 years later I was seduced by the Leo created P-bass and I got stuck subconsciously dissatisfied for eight years until I bought a Gibson EB-3, started searching for details and stumbled across Dudepit. Six years later I have eight Gibson basses. I don't know what struck me.

Another Longhorn player is Jack Bruce. He's been said to have used it on the Disraeli Gears album and on White Room off Wheels Of Fire..

Wow. The first Warwick that ever has appealed to me. Those Muddy looking pup's were made for the Jack Bruce Signature model they made just before the Royal Albert Hall Cream reunion concerts. Even Gibson themselves are practising the sheep in wolfs clothing on the SG Reissue.

Gibson Basses / Re: How do I record my NR?
« on: January 15, 2008, 09:15:58 AM »
I've wondered also. I have never recorded straight into my computer. I suppose you can use the recording input of the sound card but my guess is you will need something like a DI Box or mixer between the bass and input since it is probably made for low level signals. The bass straight in will probably distort badly.

That is one great restoration. I like that cream look. I suppose the size of the pickguard on the non rev's contribute to the better looks with one pickup.
The bridge pickup on a non rev IV looks kind of squeezed in. Uwe's and John's restorations are mighty nice also.

That's a Coronado IV. There are two of them for sale at a store in Stockholm. Old Hagströms like the rest of the vintage brands are rising in price. The price on for the Bisonic equipped '65 and the '66 is 12500 SEK each.

Interesting Rob. I had an email conversation with an audio electronics guy about using the slave output. He recommended using a passive DI box with a durable transformer and/or pad. The reason was the slave output can put out a higher voltage than regular signals but of course this depends on which volume you set on the amp. I guess it is no risk going directly to the mixing desk while using moderate volumes or keeping a good eye on the gain and using the pad if available on the desk.
