Anyone here know of any good ones?  I know they're out there I would like to narrow down my search.

My current dilema is with my 32" build planning - the fingerboard will be in the neighborhood of 20 to 21 inches and the dual action truss rods are available standard at 18" and 24".  So an 18" rod, installed for headstock adjustment, will have about an extra inch + of unsupported area at the heel.  Doesn't seem like a problem but then again I've not done this before.

This is the best.  Not just for restoration, but lots of pro builders there too.

This one has looks of smart folks, but they can be a bit arrogant a times.

Man you ain't kidding!!  :o :o  Just poked around a bit and found your statement to be very correct.  Still, I'll troll it a bit to glean some information but doubt I'll join anytime soon.

Check out the OLF. Mostly an acoustic guitar building forum but there's a lot of good info available in the main building forum. They recently started a subforum for electric guitar and bass but not much there yet.

I think the oldest around is the MIMF. Some good info there if you can overlook the buggy software that was antiquated 10 years ago and the owner's foibles that have caused some to go elsewhere (real names only, no posting pics you didn't take yourself, etc.).

The truss rod on my Ibanez 32" scale bolt on neck (nut at the heel, 23 inch board) is 22 3/4" long.

On my '67 EBO set neck (nut at headstock, 21 inch board) it's around 18.

So a 22" fingerboard and a 18" truss rod might suffice?  Figure about 1/2" back from the nut at one end that would put the other end at about the neck pocket where the neck is screwed down.  I've found a supplier that has 21" rods as well.

There's more tension on a 32" scale neck than the EBO 30".

I'd go for the 21", better safe than sorry.  Your fingerboard is going to be around 22 1/8" from the nut with a 20 fret neck.
