OHHH, yes!  That Longhorn would be perfect.  However, so would a basic P...or many other basses.  But I gotta admit that JJ has nostalgia drippin' off it.

Try it with rounds, but they'll work best if they're old rounds - old enough to lose the zing.  Then they'll be OK.

Thanks, everybody! I sure appreciate all the well wishing and encouragement! I'll be sure to check out all the links and suggested bands.

I burned a copy of an out-of-print box surf set from Rhino Records called "Cowabunga". It's 4 cds broken down into 1960-1963, 1963, 1963-1967 and 1977-1995, totalling about 80 songs. Plus all the Man or Astroman?, Ventures, Addam's Family tv show soundtrack, and random surf cds the three of us have we can pull from a wealth of stuff.

Almost anything can be played surf style if you work at it.  I became convinced of that when I heard Los Straitjackets play the love theme from "Titanic" surf style...and it worked!!!

Nice version. It actually works too.

Yeah, that Longhorn does look great.
If you want to give a Dano a run to compare the two, you can borrow my Aqua '63 RI anytime.

I'm thinking about using my Jerry Jones. It's light, sounds good and looks total surf. What do you guys think? I knew it was a good idea to get this one.  :)

Whoa! What's to think about? That thing is perfect!

Wow I would love that bass- why does this stuff come along and tempt me!

Congrats on the surf band, Denis!  Will the gigs go something like this?  ;D

Denis, hope all is well after the tornadoes.
Funny how I was just mentioning the gig at the Pour House, and Moore Square got hit pretty hard.
I was up in Rolesville yesterday, and it's quite a mess as well.
