Lots of mojo, but high end priced, considering condition...
GOLD JAZZ (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1982-Fender-Limited-Edition-Jazz-Bass-Gold-with-Gold-Hardware-Rare-/281037269197?pt=Guitar&hash=item416f2068cd)

Man, I was already to say "gross" but it looks quite nice!

A lot of those early 80s white pickup jobs were real dogs. Even if this is one of the good ones, it's not worth near the asking price. Never heard of a limited edition like that, not to say it isn't so. It's not the standard bridge used on an 82 Jazz.

They made it, definitely. I remember seeing one for sale in late '82 at a local store. I think it was in the '82 fender catalog too, too lazy to check. It was the bass companion to the Gold Strat. The Gold Strat was basically a standard "Smith Strat" with gold parts and some "brass age" hardware that Fender was selling as aftermarket parts at the time. Ditto the Gold Jazz Bass except for the 4-bolt neck and body-end truss rod adjustment. the above applies...Fender reverted to the early '66 style dots and binding fingerboards.
That one's definitely pretty rough, but sorta cool.

I remember the Gold Strat.
I don't mean to imply that the bridge isn't original, it's just not a stock Fender bridge for a standard J from that era.
You don't see many of the white pickup era basses that still have their original pickups.

I would like this! But I would put a tort guard on it:) And black pickups

Why not refinish it while you're at it? ;)

... and leave the beastie hanging in the shed for several seasons... ;D

I've seen a couple of those for sale at ridiculously high prices. That bridge was the stock bridge on the '80-'82 Precision Specials.

Its a legit limited run. The CB serial number decal is for the gold jobs they did in 82 with the dots and binding. I have a hybrid - 3 bolt and bullet and dots and binding. Most of the 82 four bolt dots and binding basses I have played were very nice, although some have some heft. That is the Smith Strat era and I think they were trying to fix some of the later 70s doggish stuff, like boat anchor bodies. The bridge and neck plate look swapped for brass crap. This should have a gold bridge and F plate. I think Angela had some of the gold bridges for a while. As far as the pups, they are fine. The white covers aren't to everyones liking, but the pups were all the same for the regular ones and reissues.
Pricey suckah though.
