Call me kooky, but I think a reverse gator would look really cool.  Gator NR perhaps?  I took the liberty of a five-minute photo edit... not quite ambitious enough to flip the headstock back upright :)

Thanks for the input, Paul...The G8R is the result of the RNR project (Reverse/Non Reverse).  I did build one 'NR' version, shown here in Surf Green.  Last known location was Buffalo.

The horns are more radical on the G8R than the RNR.  I have one more 'NR' body that I've been meaning to get back to.  It has the G8R horn cut.

Ooh, I really like that one. That might be my favorite body shape you've made!
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Three of five I hope to have done by Xmas.  Three 4s, a 5, and a 12er.

Thanks, Doc.  The weather is very conducive to getting things done right now. 60s for lows, 80s for highs, and dry enough to paint with no problems.  Just finished clear coating two necks and primering a body after prepping them this morning.

Even Bruce Johnson who makes scroll basses admits it doesn't take more than 40 hours to build one.  My stuff is a lot less complicated so two five day weeks at 4 hrs per day is more than enough to build one of mine...including  social media time to keep the ball rolling.

The guy I built this for sent it back to have the option we talked about when he originally ordered it.

I had routed the body for the option when I built it so it was pretty easy to mod.  I used two Duncan Quarter pounders, they really sound like the original pups in my '67 Phantom which also have 1/4" magnets.  Third pot is a 250k blend.

I tried to talk him into using all three pickups but he said that was too much to think about!  Easily done with a push/pull switch on the volume pot.

Love that Cadillac Green!

Sure wish I could warm up to green basses.  There's something in my brain that holds me back.

i like 'em better in brighter greens - verging on Emerald green - especially if the grain shows in the finish. Don't see many of those, though.

The 8 string..........I think I wet myself.  Thank god it has to many pickups.

It's a 12er.  There's a reason TP rarely plays Eights!

It takes a very deep-rooted opinion to survive unexpressed
