A beautiful bass, no doubt about that. But my heart is constantly directed toward the one pup, no pg, G8R, cherry. Now, that's a beauty! To be precise, that bass is the whole reason why that word's constructed: Beautiful! http://cataldobasses.com/G8R.html

As the proud owner of the cherry G8R, I have to say it plays and sounds better than it looks! I gig with it almost exclusively of my current fifteen. Sounds like an extremely angry cannon...
Go fast, take chances.

Phiver Phever.

MAX52S (special) on left, REV52 on right.  Bodies are cypress, local to the swamp.  There's a good supplier fairly close.  It has qualities similar to light honduras mahogany, mainly density. Perimeter lines on the REV show what gets removed to make a REV into a MAX.

Here's the REV52 mocked up.

22 fret Warmoth neck, they make a nice product.  The MAX has a 21 fret G&L Tribute neck, quality is a little better than Mighty Mite IMO.  Made in Indonesia.

Interesting, is this the first REV MAX?
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Interesting, is this the first REV MAX?

The REV has a raised center, MAX is flat. REV has the same shape as the original JAEbird, MAX is has a deeper cutaway and reshaped body.  A REV MAX would have a raised center section with MAX shape...I guess.  Haven't made one of those yet.  Confused? Me, too! ;D

The one on the left IS the first MAX 52S (five string, 2 pickup Special).  'Special' meaning Korean pickups and tuners, one piece bridge, less body contouring, and G&L Tribute neck.  It's about $500 less expensive than a 2 piece bridge, Hipshot tuner, ThunderBucker pickups, All Parts neck MAX.

I had some health issues to deal with as well as a trip to meet my one year old grandson, Enzo.  Finishing up basses 0067 through 0069 as well as two prototypes/ one offs...the nightmare continues. ;D

Put this '98 Chinese Squier back together last month in preparation for the Swamp Soul Soiree.

Interesting grain. Is the lower pic of the REV52 accurate in color? The top pic looks like it might have been affected by indoor lighting.

The top pic was unsanded wood, the blanks were sitting around for 8 or 9 months since planing and gluing.  Indoor light also has an effect.

Here's the REV body sanded to 240, stained, and with wash coat of sealer.  All indoors.

...and the stain.  I love how it goes from fresh blood red wet to dried blood brown.

The grain is REALLY crazy on the sides.  I'll get some shots once the clear goes on.  Going to be rainy for the next few days so finishing is on hold.
