Look under the pickguard. If the harness has 3 caps (2 large and 1 small) then it's there (the smaller one). To shunt it, just take a small piece of insulated wire (just like all other wires in the harness) and solder it to both legs of the smaller capacitor. No need to remove or unsolder the cap itself: the signal will choose the path of least resistance. You can try it first without soldering - just wrap the ends of the shunt wire to the two points where the .047 cap is soldered.

I love the styling. Firebird-ish upside-down plus Tele plus LP Jr, three of the coolest guitars. And still very original. The darker green is especially nice. So tasteful.

A 2009 "white Shadow"... there was a '73 like that on eBay but that one was refinished. This one is original white-on-white with checkerboard binding.

« on: March 31, 2014, 11:19:46 PM »I miss my Hofner.Sometimes I miss my first Höfner too, a '67 blade-pickup 500/1. Sold it to my teacher 38 years ago (he still owns and plays it!) but kept its original teacup knobs all those years. Yesterday I installed one of them on my 500/3 (which had some kind of a replacement knob). So now it has something from my old bass which I haven't seen for almost 4 decades.

This one is a recent build, by Paul Wilczynski, around relatively few Ric parts, the numbered jack plate among them. Rickenbacker allowed it, but there was some discussion whether this should be considered a real Ric. My personal take was that if RIC authorized it, then it's "real", but a new jack plate with a 2007 date code should have been used.
