This is my rig as it stands now, I used to run A '72 SVT with  a 2x15 and 8x10 next to it  :o . It is inspired by John's Isle of Whight rig but Hiwatt gear is hard to find  >:(  I do have a Hiwatt DR201 coming over from England, next I will be working on getting Hiwat cabs. about 20 years ago I had a Hiwatt 2x15 wish I still had it. I have a Marshall 8x10 in need of restoration, I may rehab that and put it up there as well.

I already own the Sunn Coliseum rig. (Coliseum Bass, 880, & Lead heads - with two 4x12 Sunn cabs & two 1x18 Sunn cabs)

Can you post a picture of this rig? I'm a huge Sunn fanatic!

I would have voted for Sunn + Thunderbirds, naturally, but Fenderbird is what I picked. 8)

Sweet looking Sunn amps you have there. I keep figuring I'll come across one someday.
I used 2 Acoustic 370's back in the early 70's. I had a Sunn tube head and a Sound City speaker for practice.
The Sunn was cool.

1971 Sunn Coliseum Bass
197X Sunn 612S 6 x 12 (with Eminence Delta Bass 12"s)
197X Sunn 215M 2 x 15 (with Jensen MOD 15"s)

This thing would put out a small bonfire with a low E.

I hear you Scott. When I bought all this stuff I paid $250 (head), $150 (6x12, empty), and $145 (2x15, empty) respectively.

Took a new one just for you, Entwistle lovers!

Sorry to dig up such an old thread, but I completely missed it....

Anyway, hard to decide! I went Fenderbird/Sunn. It was a good "in between" since I really like both the P/Hiwatt and the Alembic/Sunn. I didn't really care much for anything post-Alembic/Sunn.

I love John's Fenderbirds ! My favorite of his many basses, well aside from the non reverse Thunderbirds  he played ( I never knew he played any NRs till I saw pictures on line, long after I bought my first in '77 because I thought it sounded like John !) Chris use what suites you while celebrating John, I think you will know whats best

Here is my rig as it stands now. I recentley added the Hiwatt DR201, it is a '75  documented from SLADE's back line. Now all I need are some Hiwatt cabs.
