These are the 32" scale ones... did I remember that right?  ???

Nope,

 33" and change, not 34".

I think we determined it's 33 3/8" after Mark measured the nut to 12th fret distance.

You and Bionic Joe sure like those pickups. Maybe you should have them analyzed. I suppose you don't want to sacrifice one of them, though.

Well I only have the one Greco pup in my bass, I *think* Orville's (which Joe favors) are constructed differently as they aren't nearly hot. This one just has "that" sound, a lot like a Lull pup too but louder and a bit raunchier.

Some of you may remember this bass, which is what brought me to the pit all those years ago (looking for info on it). I lost out on it in that auction but snagged it a few years later when that owner put it back up on eBay. I was a little disappointed when I got it because the seller claimed it had 60's bird pickups in it (and my bid at the time reflected that), but I found that they were most likely Grecos instead (same construction front and back). That disappointment disappeared the moment I plugged it in and really liked what I heard!

I had a '75 Ibeenhad 2365B Jazz Bass copy had that same scale.  I liked it.

These Greco IIs look sweet - especially when sporting a 2-point!

Sorry, I had them mixed up. May have been made in the same factory but not necessarily the same pickup.

You can often analyze a pickup just by looking at its backside.  :P

 Hmmmm............ Backside  ;)

Joe might be able to tell us about an Orville, but right off the bat I think they're different because Greco's are Nickel and Orville's are chrome.

Correct.  The Orville pups are alledgedly of US origin ("Orville by Gibson") and they sound great, but as others have pointed out, the Greco pups are hotter and have wonderful growl.  The Orvilles have the same neck profile and pickup placement as Gibsons, whereas the Greco birds have a more P-bass like neck, and the pups on the two pickup models are spaced differently to Gibbys.
Cheers
