Ibanez ARTB Les Paul Bass
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:19:23 AM »
I'm really digging this new Ibanez bass!
Mahogany body, maple neck. Short scale.

Wonder how it sounds and feels...

So I guess you can score one for like 350 euros in Holland Rob?

I like the white one, but the black one has the Ronnie Lane vibe:)

The guy at my local store tried them at NAMM and liked them. But he said it wasn't as nice as the LP Standard he sold me! ;D  Not as expensive either.

The LP Standard isn't short scale. These babies are!

Those pups aren't bad, they have them on the budget Icemans too and that other retro model (Jet Bass?) they brought out a while ago. Barks along nicely though real deep lows and glistening presence are missing.

I think that describes about every Ibanez pickup I've ever heard.

I tried the jet bass, thinking it would be kind of like a short scale t-bird....

It felt cheap to me...and I like Danelectros, so...go figure

I have a black one at home now for a review for sister magazine Musicmaker. I'll keep ya posted. Haven't tried her out yet.

First impression is that it looks good. According to my colleague it's poorly adjusted, but we'll sort that out. The bridge is kinda big and chunky, but without the oversized f-holes of some other Ibanezzes it isn;t that bad.
