The Eggmen....
« on: January 25, 2011, 07:44:08 PM »
got a mention in Vintage Guitar (February 2011).  8)   they run a column every month featuring comments from their Facebook page and the topic for Feburary is 'your favorite band name & why'.  "A local Beatles tribute band called The Eggmen.  I think it's one of the greatest names for a Beatles tribute."    pretty cool!

That is a good name - and from the right period. I thought the Beatles peaked with SPLHCB and MMT. My elder brother had the MMT EP and I must have played Your mother should know and Fool on the Hill to death. When I think of The Beatles I think of that phase.

Whether it was real or not, there seemed to be something unusually joyful about the MMT phase.

They were blossoming and transforming from an excellent beat band to artists. It's a step the Rolling Stones, for instance, never made.

I had told Lefty about that but had not gotten back to him with the details, thanks for posting it.

Excellent!
I think my favorite all around Beatles album must be "Rubber Soul". To me that album is the turning point in the way the band approached music in general.

Excellent band from the clips I've seen, and very cool getting recognized as such.  Congrats!

Too bad I don't play drums.  It would be a great band to be in.

I found December's Children, Aftermath, and Between the Buttons very pleasant, but there was certainly nothing going on (from the Stones) comparable to the Beatles, IMO.

Ringo has a lot of time on his hands these days.

Yep, we had David Fore from Bubble Puppy as our drummer for many years, then he retired about 4 years ago, now his replacement is leaving. We've got 8 candidates lined up.

Yes, thanks. I don't think any of the other guys know about it, they're not gearheads so they aren't on forums or reading VG.

When we started, in 1992, we were just a 4-piece and only played the "Red album" songs, which is not my favorite Beatle period, but was all we could pull off at the time. We always got requests for "Walrus" because of our name but we couldn't/didn't play it. When we became a 5-piece, with keys, we began to cover the "Blue album" songs as well. Nowadays, about 4 times a year, we even perform with an orchestra, which is HUGE fun. We've got an orchestra show coming up this month.
